1. How much does IT
cost?
The cost of cemetery property is not only determined by inflation but also by the
availability of specially zoned land , cost of labor and cost of large blocks of land.
As more and more cemeteries become near full and have little available space to sell
restrictions are placed in the amount of spaces that can be purchased, the residency of
the purchaser and the restriction that only at need ( time of death ) sales are permitted.
Therefore those who wish to thoughtfully provide for their families ahead of need, may
not. The actual cost will vary with the size of the lot, location in the cemetery, etc..
Also, small monthly installments make purchasing cemetery spaces, ahead of need, a very
affordable and attractive thing to do. Will perpetual care be included? At Knollwood it's
part of the lot price. Click

2. Why should I buy cemetery
spaces now? Im too young.
True. Age is a factor when we purchase cemetery property. The years seem to give us the
wisdom and knowledge, that this is something we ALL will need. At the time it is needed
those that must make the decision are in grief and not in a state of mind to make this
type of permanent decision, but many are forced to do so.
No one knows when or how, only that it will happen. Doesn't it make sense to have your
cemetery lot now when it's not needed; than waiting until it's too late and are forced to
decide at the last moment?

3. What other costs
are involved
with cemetery property?
Cost associated with cemetery property are usually what we consider funeral expenses such
as opening of the grave. Opening and closing is a labor cost, this can be paid by the
family directly to the cemetery or the Funeral Director may include it as part of the
funeral costs. A liner or vault will be required and again this may be purchased through
either the funeral director or a liner directly from the cemetery.

4. Can we choose our lot or is
it assigned?
The location of your lot may be selected by you from all available spaces. Not only can
you choose your lot now but should it become necessary at a later date to add more spaces,
the spaces can be reallocated.

5. How are religious customs
and practices handled at Knollwood?
Knollwood serves all faiths. As a nonsectarian cemetery we respect all religious customs
and practices as long as they do not conflict with our operation of the cemetery or the
rules and regulation of the Park.

6. How many can be buried in
one space?
There are two choices as to the configuration of a space.
(1) In our side-by-side Gardens each space will accommodate one full size burial or two
cremated remains burials.
(2) Lawn crypt area: two full size burials in one space within a lawn crypt. The lawn
crypt is pre-set during development of a section so that at the time of a lot purchase the
vault is part of the purchase, thereby eliminating a future purchase.

7. Who can be buried in my lot?
As the lot owner you or your heir(s) will determine who will be buried in your lot. Any
unused spaces will become part of your estate and will remain as part of your family's
cemetery property.

8. Why doesnt Knollwood
use headstones?
Knollwood was developed as a memorial park. The natural beauty of the area is not impaired
by many rows of tombstone. Rather, indestructible bronze memorials level with the lawn are
used to memorialize a grave. A typical companion bronze memorial is 44" long and
14" high. Amply sized to properly mark a grave with not only names and dates and
emblems to record religious or military affiliations.

9. What happens if I move out
of the area?
Every lot owner is issued a transferable deed for their lot. These spaces may be
transfered (sold or gift ). Veteran spaces may be transferred to only another veteran, all
other spaces have no restrictions. Also, if you wish to transfer your lot to another
cemetery at least 75 miles from Canton, Ma. a "dollar for dollar" transfer may
be made. This is part of the ICCFA transfer program which Knollwood is a member. Program
covers over 300 cemeteries throughout the country, in virtually every state.

10. How big is a family lot?
If you are thinking of a family lot first, think of how much you want to spend. The size
of your lot is also determined by how many people you are responsible for. Always discuss
something like this with as many members of your family as possible. Chances are the lot
may not be the size you had originally thought it would be. Sometimes it can be smaller
and other times it may be larger. If you wish to establish a family lot and are not sure
how big; you may start with four spaces and if necessary add to it before there is an
interment in it. The important thought here is don't wait till there is a need to use the
lot, establish you family lot now.
