Garden of
Gethsemane
Following the Last Supper Jesus went out into the Garden of Gethsemane withPeter,
James and John. Being full of sorrow Jesus went forward a little by himself, kneeled on
the ground by a great rock, and prayed that if it were
possible he might be spared.
The
Garden of the Cross
Focal point is the fourteen foot wrought iron cross. Flowering Dogwood trees line the
paved walkway which is also shaped in a cross.
The
Garden of the Word
Here a Bible is opened to the stirring words which begin the Gospel of John: “In the
beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the
word was God.”
The Last Supper
The inspiration for this Garden is represented by a 6 ½’ x 14’ marble basrelief of
Leonardo da Vinic’s masterpiece, “The Last Supper.” Along the two paths leading
to the masonry which hold this marble panel are Japanese
Crabapple trees.
The
Garden of the Saviour
Here nature has provided a distinctive Knoll, a sculptured marble representation of
the Saviour with hands extended in encouragement to a searching mankind,
reminding all to “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give
you rest.”
